More Than Just Luck: Giving to Voice Unmuted

Hello fellow supporters,
At More Than Just Luck, we have always believed that change doesn't happen by sitting on the sidelines. Real impact requires showing up, standing with the vulnerable, and lending our platform to those who have been forced into silence. Recently, our team stepped into a heartbreaking but absolutely vital mission.
Standing with the Survivors of Vista Maria: You may have seen the devastating investigative reports carried by WDIV (Local 4) regarding Vista Maria - an all-girls facility where former residents have courageously come forward with accounts of unbearable living conditions, physical abuse, and severe sexual abuse.
These women were placed in an environment meant to protect them, only to endure what many have described as a living HELL.
We couldn’t look away.
The More Than Just Luck staff had the deep honor of hosting The Voice Unmuted, a powerful monthly gathering dedicated to providing these survivors with a safe space to heal, connect, and reclaim their narratives. The energy in the room was indescribable, and the local community is rightfully demanding accountability.
Our efforts caught the attention of major news outlets dedicated to making sure these stories are heard. We want to extend a massive thank you to WDIV, CBS News, and WWJ Radio for coming out to report on the event and helping us amplify the voices of these incredible women.
In Michigan, navigating the timeline to seek justice for childhood trauma involves distinct rules depending on whether a survivor is filing a civil lawsuit for financial damages or seeking criminal charges against an abuser. For civil claims, Michigan law provides a general 10-year statute of limitations from the date of the abuse to file a lawsuit; however, because the victim was a minor, this 10-year clock is paused (or "tolled") and does not officially begin ticking until the individual reaches their 18th birthday. This gives survivors until age 28 to file a civil suit against their abuser or the institutions that enabled them. We do not believe there should be a statute of limitations on these disgusting acts and since most states have changed their laws, we are asking the Michigan legislation to do the same.
Help change the statute of limitations law in Michigan!
Keeping it Real:
Greg on the Nothing Fancy Podcast.
Speaking of keeping it real, our very own Greg recently sat down as a guest on the Nothing Fancy podcast. If you know Greg, you know he doesn't sugarcoat anything.
During the episode, he peeled back the curtain on what it’s really like navigating the media and podcasting landscape. Greg went on a bunch of different podcasts, but they were all filmed on dirty couches in people's basements - and he actually paid some hosts to be on them.
That experience reminded us why we built our own space.
Step Into Our Studio:
We’re Looking for Our Next Guests!
We didn’t invest in a state-of-the-art podcast studio just to hear ourselves talk. We built this space to serve a much greater purpose: to provide a high-quality, professional, and completely authentic launchpad for people with powerful stories, unique perspectives, and unfiltered truths.
When you sit behind our mics, you aren't just getting a platform - you’re getting an environment built for raw, honest conversations.
Why Our Studio Standard is Different:
Let's be real: the podcast world is crowded right now. After navigating the industry, sitting down on the Nothing Fancy podcast, we saw firsthand how many people are just looking for a quick cash grab, a viral soundbite, or a superficial ego boost.
No Clout-Chasing: We don’t care about superficial metrics or transactional relationships. If you’re just looking for a stage to pitch a get-rich-quick scheme or stir up empty drama, we aren't the show for you.
Just Real Talk: We value substance over hype. We want the innovators, the survivors, the disruptors, and the everyday heroes who have walked through the fire and have the wisdom to prove it.
Top-Tier Production: We’ve built a professional, broadcast-ready environment so that when your story is told, it sounds crisp, looks sharp, and commands the respect it deserves.
In the next several weeks we will be having applications available here and all our social media platforms where there you will tell us why you think you belong on our show. If we think we can help you with your product, service or anything else, we will call you and remember there will never be a cost of any kind to appear on our show.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Every share, every listen, and every monthly gathering brings us one step closer to ensuring no one’s voice stays muted. Let's make some noise. If you aren’t signed up on our social media platforms, Greg asks that you click on the following links and become a subscriber today.
